BILCO Access Doors Help Colorado Community Confront Water Crisis

Project Snapshot

  • This $14.5 million project has been in the planning stages since 2008.
  • The project involved the construction of a 5-million-gallon potable water storage tank and a 24-inch diameter supply pipeline in Parker, Colorado, to address the area’s growing water demands.

BILCO Products

  • The four BILCO access hatches provided crucial access to the water tank’s water quality probes, a tank mixer and level sensors, among other components.
  • The hatches feature corrosion-resistant materials, compression spring operators for one-hand operation, and automatic hold-open arms for enhanced safety and ease of use.

The Parker Water & Sanitation District’s water tank project in Colorado was designed to address the state’s looming water shortage, providing an additional 5-million-gallon capacity to meet the increasing water demands of the area. This critical infrastructure project included the installation of large BILCO access hatches to ensure reliable access to essential water system components such as mixers, sensors and probes.

BILCO’s hatches were selected for their durability, ease of use and safety features, including corrosion-resistant construction and engineered lift assistance for one-hand operation. These hatches will play a pivotal role in the performance and longevity of the water storage tank, ensuring the successful integration of the tank into the local water distribution system.

“Our contractor for this project selected the doors and they met the specifications for the project. We’ve used BILCO products in other projects and we’ve found them reliable.”
