NoDa Brewing’s recent expansion in Charlotte, N.C., aimed to increase production by 40%, allowing for improved storage and production facilities. The brewery incorporated BILCO smoke vents into the project as part of a comprehensive fire safety strategy. These vents were crucial for fire-protection, given the inherent fire risks in breweries due to the handling and storage of grains, chemicals and other volatile materials. The smoke vents help to remove smoke, heat and toxic fumes in the event of a fire, supporting firefighting efforts and aiding building evacuation. Working with architects and the RCS team, BILCO smoke vents were seamlessly integrated into the 13,260-square-foot standing seam roof of the brewery. The choice to use BILCO products was based on their reliability, service and the quality of the vents, which are ideal for large, unobstructed spaces like those found in breweries. BILCO smoke vents ensure that NoDa Brewing can operate safely while focusing on its expanded production capabilities.
“The BILCO selection was our choice. The metal covering in the non-daylighting style was preferred for this project. We trust them and pay a bit of a premium because we know it’s going to be a quality product. They’re also going to service the product, and that was an important consideration.”
