Specifications
Bulkhead door to basement shall be Bilco [Classic Series Sloped Wall] Size ____ (and size of extension, if required) with Size ____ Bilco Stair Stringers (and size E extension, if required). Door and stringers shall be packaged assemblies available form lumber and building supply dealers. Basement Door assembly shall be constructed of .090 - .100 thickness steel with Torsion Cam Lift System. Basement Door (and extension if specified) shall have flow- coated and baked- on factory prime finish and shall be furnished complete with hardware assembly bolts and anchors for securing to masonry. Stringers shall be 14 gauge galvanized steel and manufacturer shall provide nails for securing to masonry walls. Installation shall be in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Painting Instructions
The Bilco Basement Door must be painted within forty-five (45) days of installation. The Bilco Basement Door and optional extension panels are supplied with a uniform baked-on primer supplied by Sherwin Williams. Prior to finish painting, clean all surfaces thoroughly and apply a finish coat of acrylic latex, such as Sherwin Williams in white or other light color to all interior and exterior steel surfaces. Bilco does not recommend the use of Rust Oleum products.
Optional stair stringers and foundation plates are galvanized steel but can be painted for aesthetic purposes. If painted, a metal primer must be used prior to applying the finish coat of paint.
